This is a made-up logo we use for testing. It was saved as a 480 px wide JPG at quality 35, which is about what a customer sends when they screenshot their own website.

Left: the JPG. Middle: a default auto-trace (vtracer 0.6.15, default settings). Right: our clean-up. Both vectors are 100 mm wide.

Most of the extra nodes come from compression noise along the edges. Every small wobble turns into its own curve, and a laser or CNC controller slows down at each one.

Close-up of the node points on one letter
One letter up close: 317 nodes in the auto-trace, 25 after clean-up.

The round parts come back as real arcs instead of many short curves, so a circle stays a circle when it is scaled or cut.
